In case you missed Penetra Record’s first release – Garoto Nacional by Strausz, you can catch up with our exclusive short videos for every track on the EP. The video loops were directed by Julio Secchin, who also directed the official video for the single. The alien sidekick Monstro appears drumming next to Strausz for Garoto Nacional Original Mix and Remixes and is attacked by a mysterious laser beam for the B-Side ‘Ad Infinitum’. Check them out below and enjoy.
M.I.A’s superhit ‘Bad Girls’ was secretly remixed by our very own Heavy Baile Master Leo Justi. Even though the remixes for Bad Girls are not out on the blogosphere and very little is known about the upcoming ‘Matangi’, we can expect a lot from what we hear in the background of the video below done by Beck’s beer.
Penetra Records’ second Fita-Mixada features Leo Justi. After the great remix for our first release ‘Garoto Nacional’, Leo drops our April ’12 mixtape. Influenced by Baltimore Club and Carioca Baile Funk on his remixes and edits, the DJ brings his original ‘Heavy Baile’ on the tape. “In this set, I played the way I DJ” – Most of what you’ll hear are his own works, remixes and edits, including soon-to-be-released original tracks. Clearly, Leo Justi’s sounds are based on every type of music. “I also like to play Hip-hop and Dancehall, but lately I’ve been focusing on the Heavy Baile sound.”

If original electronic music in Brazil is in a fertile moment, Strausz is without a doubt one of the big new names. “Garoto Nacional” is the second EP by the producer from Rio de Janeiro, it grabs you not only for its obvious danceable purpose, but also for the aesthetical reference blend. “Garoto Nacional” offers a plateful of Chinese pop, with a lot of reverb, retro samples, grooves and an intense bass line. The producers invited to recreate “Garoto Nacional” came from the three corners of the world. The first is brought by the also Penetra artist Leo Justi, introducing his Heavy Baile to the compact. The second is a filthy dubstep reinterpretation by Circuitbored from New Jersey, with low-end bass and massive distortions. The third remix is brought by the trio Mjolnir from Jakarta, giving us a classy funky air with synths of any house/nu-disco song. The release finishes with ‘Ad Infinitum’ showing a little of what this unique producer will bring us in the future.

Every month we will be releasing a “Fita-mixada” (or mixtape) made by one of our artists.
The first one was made by So&So. “The mixtape goes by some of our influences. It was arranged just like a vinyl, A/B/C/D. Each one with 3 songs that kind of inspire our productions. The relationship between what we listen to and our music is not clear, but we believe that is how the creative process works. It’s like mapping what comes to our minds as listeners before feeling this as producers”, they say.
